We’ve had a lot of questions about how we are handling COVID-19. While everyone is at risk of contracting this virus, people experiencing homelessness are faced with unique challenges. Without a home, people are unable to properly hunker down and do not have access to running water. People also must visit congregate environments, for food and hygiene, so social distancing isn’t an easy option. Additionally, many people we serve struggle with chronic health conditions.
While the organization continues to evolve, we have completely changed our operations and focusing to a street outreach and deliver supplies and food to people who are camping; revamping the way our organization works and operates so that we do not have 350+ people in the building at a time in order to limit the spread of the virus while continuing to provide meals, showers and mail; and adding homeless prevention services to assist people at-risk of losing their homes due to COVID-19. We have new and evolving needs, but are making efforts to limit the spread of the virus while continuing to serve people in our community who are among the most vulnerable.
It is a challenging time for everyone. We are facing many struggles right now as we work to keep our clients safe from the virus while continuing to meet their basic needs.
We could use your help.
We will continue to work to navigate this situation in order to provide for and protect our Veterans the best we can.
